Snapchat has announced a new ‘Quick Tap to Snap’ feature that will appear prominently on the lock screens of Google’s new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones.
Us 🤝 @Snapchat #Pixel6 is the fastest phone to make a Snap thanks to Quick Tap to Snap! And check out Pixel lenses and other exclusive features too!#Pixel6Launch pic.twitter.com/94trIxzHzk

Here’s how it works:
By tapping the back of your phone, you can create Snaps and play with Lenses directly from the lock screen, without having to unlock your phone. Once a Snap is ready to share, log in to your phone’s lock screen to directly unlock the full app experience.
Snap and Google are also teaming up on future features and products, including:
Exclusive augmented reality Lenses
Pixel/Snapchat support for Ultra Wide Angle photos
Pixel/Snapchat support for Live Translate to talk to your friends in more than 10 languages, and translate conversations in real-time
According to Engadget, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel described the Quick Tap to Snap feature as "Pixel-first" feature—which suggests it could be something seen on other devices like iPhone in the future.
But for now, the partnership between Google and Snapchat is worth keeping an eye on. Snap has been investing in AR and VR for years, with a bit of a rivalry forming between Snap and Facebook. A partnership with other tech giants could give Snap an edge when it comes to certain aspects of the social landscape in the coming years.
