LinkedIn is rolling out a set of new features meant to highlight (and cater to the unique needs of) the platforms top influencers.
Dubbed “Creator mode,” the feature turns on a more prominent display of content and encourages others to follow you.
The mode is only available to some users right now, but it sounds like everyone will soon be eligible.
Here are the main benefits of Creator mode:
Grow your following – “With creator mode, your primary Profile action updates from ‘Connect’ to ‘Follow,’ helping you grow your audience. The option to connect is still available for creators and people they know.”
Showcase your voice (over work experience) – “With creator mode, your original posts will be highlighted front and center, helping you establish your voice with potential followers that visit your Profile. You can also add hashtags to your Profile intro so that potential followers can easily see which topics you post about the most.”
Get discovered – “Creator mode will make members eligible for search and discovery results downstream, helping creators get discovered and grow their audience.”
You can turn on creator mode (if you’re eligible) in a section of your profile located under “Your Dashboard.” You will need to choose 1-5 topics (hashtags) to indicate what you mostly post about.

These creator-focused features are rolling out along with a few other profile updates—most notably, you can now turn on a video Cover Story that allows you to engage your audience and introduce yourself to prospective employers, recruiters, and connections/followers.
The creator mode option shows that LinkedIn values the top influencers on the platform, wants them to keep using LinkedIn, and believes many users value the content produced by the platforms most prolific users. It will also now provide a clearer route for casual users to become more prolific, too.
At the heart of our ecosystem is our creator community. People love to see creators give their take on what’s happening in the news or share insights into a specific industry — whether that’s a post, a video, an article, or even a comment. If this is you, check out the new creator mode in your Profile dashboard.
As explained by Social Media Today, these changes also put a greater focus on LinkedIn Live, the video broadcasting feature. So look out for broadcasts to become more visible in the coming months.
Over the last few years, we have seen many platforms catering to the most engaged creators in an effort to keep them busy on their platform over the competition. Several channels even offer various profit-sharing schemes for creators. Could that be in the works for LinkedIn, too? TBD!
