Pinterest has rolled out two new features to its interactive collage tool—Collage Remixing and Collage Sharing—that will allow users to collaborate, remix existing collages, and easily share their creations in video format across social media platforms.
Building on t these updates aim to give users greater flexibility in customizing and distributing their Pinterest content, providing more creative opportunities and (potentially) driving engagement both on and off Pinterest.
The Collage—first announced in 2023—is an interactive Pin format composed of cutouts, allowing users to bring their ideas to life in a dynamic and engaging way. Collages have sparked a wave of fresh and exciting user-generated content on Pinterest, with users embracing collages as a new way to visualize, plan and shop ideas.
How to Create a Collage:
Tap the “+” at the bottom of your screen, then select “Collage.”
Add cutouts by tapping “+” and browsing through Pins or your boards, or upload an image from your device.
Customize the collage with text, drawings, or a background color.
Publish your collage as a Pin or save it for later.
Important note! According to the Pinterest Help site: “Collages are currently available on iOS and Android mobile devices only. If you don't see the option to create a collage, make sure you're using the latest version of the Pinterest app.”
Collage Remixing allows users to build on or edit existing collages. Creators can now take an original collage and transform it into something new, while keeping the original creator’s tag visible for attribution. This collaborative element opens up new possibilities for brand partnerships, creative user engagement, and content expansion.
Here’s how to do it:
Tap “+” at the bottom of your screen and select “Collage.”
Tap “Remix a collage” by swiping through your available options.
Choose a collage and start editing! You can swap cutouts, add new elements, or change the background.
Publish your remix. The original creator’s username will remain visible for attribution.
If you don’t want your collages to be remixed, learn how to manage your remix settings .
The second key update—Collage Sharing—makes it easier for users to download their collages in video format and share them across other platforms like Instagram or Facebook. This feature encourages cross-platform visibility, allowing Pinterest content to reach a broader audience.
Ready to try it out?
Go to the collage you want to share.
Tap the “…” button and select “Download collage.”
Choose the file format (video) and download it to your camera roll.
Upload your video to platforms like Instagram Stories. You can use link stickers or captions to include a URL back to your original Pinterest collage.
For social media marketers, Pinterest’s new collage features open exciting opportunities for creative content development and cross-platform sharing. Remixing in particular offers a chance to interact more dynamically with Pinterest audiences—similar to TikTok’s Stitch feature—where brands can be rewarded by creating remixable content that ultimately amplifies reach.
