The launch of the Green Screen Duets feature is a combination of two popular TikTok features: Duets, which allow users to create chains of co-created content; and Green Screen, which lets users record videos with custom backgrounds.
Now, users can choose an existing TikTok as their. new video’s background. This allows for some interesting and creative possibilities.

With Green Screen Duet, users will be able to use another video from TikTok as the background in a new video. As with all Duets, the creator of the Duetted video is credited in the new video’s caption with a link that directs to the original.

To use the feature, simply create a Duet post from a video you see in TikTok. You will need to tap the new “Green Screen” option in the Layouts row (next to existing Duet layouts for Left & Right, React, and Top & Bottom). The Duetted video will play in the background of your new video as you record your new TikTok post.
TikTok continues innovating on the features that make it special. Duets is a way that users can quickly show off their creativity by riffing on other users’ posts, and is a key way that TikTok has continued to grow and maintain their active user base. Meanwhile, Facebook/IG and YouTube have to keep trying to keep up.
