Pinterest is introducing Story Pins following streams—a place for Pinners to see new Story Pins from the creators they follow, as well as those recommended within a new “Discover creators” icon.
The idea here is to give Pinterest users a more direct way to view Story Pin content from those accounts that they have followed by highlighting them prominently in the app.
The addition of a Stories tray at the top of the Pinterest feed may look familiar, but it’s important to remember that Story Pins are different from Stories on other platforms in a number of ways. Most importantly, they don’t disappear!
Browsing Story Pins from the “following streams” area is simple: after tapping, you can swipe/advance right and left through the Story. To view other Story Pins from that creator, simply swipe up.
For users who may not already follow many accounts who have stories available, the stories area will also contain a direct call-to-action for following relevant creators.

Over the years, as Pinterest has moved toward an algorithmic feed based on user interests and usage patterns, who each user actually follows has gradually receded into the background. But, perhaps in an effort to woo the best creators away from competitors, the platform has been making more efforts to enhance the following experience. They created a separate Following Tab in 2018 to surface a dedicated zone for followed users, and have hosted conferences and provided resources to help more creators succeed on Pinterest.
The Story Pins experience is another feature targeted at those making the best content on Pinterest. The features provide intriguing ways to create engaging context around the pins themselves, and now those who create the most engaging content will be rewarded with more discovery through the “Discover creators” icon, as well.
