Your LinkedIn Newsletter Subscriptions Will Soon Be Public

LinkedIn newsletters, which are available to users and company pages, will soon get more visibility in the app through placement on subscribers’ profiles.

LinkedIn says that the purpose of the change is to “aid in [the] discovery” of newsletters relevant to each user:

“We’ve heard from members like you that newsletters on LinkedIn are a great way to gather new insights and ideas on professional topics they care about. We’ve also heard that members are looking for better ways to discover even more newsletters that would be relevant to them.

To aid in this discovery, we are making newsletter subscriptions visible to others, including on profiles.”

Of course, the change is also likely to help LinkedIn increase the visibility of a product it hopes can take on the likes of Substack and other newsletter providers.

That said, this change could indeed help LinkedIn users find more content that they want—plus it will certainly help newsletter creators reach a broader audience.

Why it Matters

LinkedIn newsletters have proven to be an incredible channel for reaching an audience. When we launched our own newsletter on LinkedIn, The D’brief, we had upwards of 600 subscribers within just a few weeks thanks to notifications and views from our already established networks.

So, this change should be welcome for those in the writing business.

For subscribers, you just might want to double-check your subscriptions and make sure you’re comfortable with them all going public on February 11. 🙂

To see what you’re subscribed to, head to the My Network tab and then click on Newsletters. You can unsubscribe to any that you don’t want to appear on your profile.
