Several new AI-powered features are coming out on LinkedIn, including enhancements for recruiters, advertisers, and—perhaps most notably—Premium users.
The unveiling of a new AI-powered Premium experience marks a significant shift in how users can interact with the LinkedIn platform. The update is designed to bring a higher level of personalization to each interaction on LinkedIn. This includes:
Feed analysis – The AI-driven system will analyze posts in your feed, from commentary to articles and conversations, to highlight key opportunities and insights in a matter of seconds. This means less time spent sifting through content and more time for actionable insights.
Job search enhancement – AI chat features will aid in assessing job fit, positioning for roles, and even preparing for interviews, making these tasks more seamless and integrated into the LinkedIn experience.
Updated context – Leveraging Microsoft Bing, the new experience offers timely and comprehensive information, keeping users informed about current global events.
There have also been several new AI-powered updates for other key user groups on LinkedIn:
Recruiters and others involved in hiring and job searches may be interested in a new tool currently known as Recruiter 2024. The new AI Chat interface promises to automate basic tasks. For example, type in "I want to hire a senior growth marketing leader,” and the system will get you well on your way.
LinkedIn Learning Users will also soon see AI features aimed at creating more of a Coaching Experience directly on LinkedIn. The tool “will offer both real-time advice and tailored content recommendations all personalized for you based on your goals, job, aspirations, and the skills you follow.”
This update is not just about a new feature; it's about reshaping how professionals engage with content, opportunities, and each other on LinkedIn. For this reason, social media marketers who rely on this channel should pay close attention to how AI changes the experience of using the platform.
We’re also keeping an eye on even more AI features coming to LinkedIn soon. Their parent company, Microsoft, is a major investor in OpenAI (the creator of ChatGPT) afterall. For example, many LinkedIn users struggle with writing their About section. There are even third-party AI tools offering assistance—so perhaps we’ll see this built directly into LinkedIn soon?
This evolution promises to make the LinkedIn experience more relevant, efficient, and valuable for those looking to maximize their professional presence online. Will the average LinkedIn user view these new features in the same revolutionary spirit? Time will tell!
