A new “Group Expert” badge allows Admins on Facebook to elevate the most knowledgable members of Groups. This empowers those people to play a more meaningful role in Groups, such as by hosting Q&As, sharing perspectives, and responding to questions.
Facebook is also testing ways to make it easy to find the most knowledgable experts in your group. The company is running a test in the gaming and fitness industries in which group members can add the games or activities they know the most about. Then, Admins can search for these experts and send an invitation.
Note: Once you have made someone a Group Expert, they will need to accept the invitation. At that point, it will be important to monitor their activity and revoke the enhanced status if necessary.
This is yet another tool that could make the Community Manager role more efficient. By deputizing your best Group members, you can empower those thought leaders to create a better experience for everyone in the group. This is also a way to encourage your super users to keep contributing to your group.
According to Facebook:
We believe that group experts will support admins in fostering quality conversations and make it easier to discover valuable content, ultimately making for a more meaningful experience for members.
