In addition to the featured link, Twitter Professional Accounts can now add a “Link Spotlight” that acts as a built-in call-to-action (CTA) button in your bio.
Unfortunately, there are a few big caveats with this feature.
You can only link to a list of pre-approved domains. This feature only supports URLs from the following domains:
open.spotify.com
music.apple.com
pandora.com
music.amazon.com
listen.tidal.com
deezer.com
music.youtube.com
boomplay.com
play.anghami.com
napster.com
soundcloud.com
bandcamp.com
mixcloud.com
toneden.io
odesli.co
ticketmaster.com
bandsintown.com
substack.com
youtube.com
twitch.tv
vimeo.com
podcasts.google.com
podcasts.apple.com
open.spotify.com/show
menupages.com
styleseat.com
opentable.com
calendly.com
etsy.com
github.com
kickstarter.com
indiegogo.com
grubhub.com
chownow.com
The reasoning? Twitter points to “technical complexity and trust and safety concerns” as the main reason for limiting the functionality. Hopefully, this feature will be made available to a wider variety of websites in the future.
Also, label text is limited. For now, at least, you can only choose from the list of pre-approved labels for the Link Spotlight button. That list currently includes only these 8 options:
Listen now
See live
Watch now
Stream live
Read now
View Menu
Book an appointment
Make a reservation
👋 Link Spotlight is now available to all professionals in the U.S. This new spotlight adds an interactive button to your profile that can drive your customers to whatever touchpoint is most important to you – viewing a menu, listening to your podcast, making a reservation, etc. pic.twitter.com/HGJdJcFceZ

The broader context: This is all part of a new suite of tools known as Professional Home. As a business, you can create a Professional Account to get access to the Professional Home tools which includes:
Account analytics
Tweet promotion (ads) and monetization features
Additional resources
Driving business directly from a social media profile can be an elusive target. Changes such as these can make it easier to drive lucrative action. For those who are active on the approved list of websites, Twitter just became that much more interesting as a marketing channel.
That said, this is likely small potatoes compared to what could be coming soon on Twitter: Thanks to the Elon Musk takeover (finally) coming to a close, it’s safe to say even bigger changes are likely on the horizon for everyone’s favorite microblogging platform.
