TikTok, the social media platform known for its short, catchy videos, has just added a new feature to its arsenal: text posts.
This marks a significant shift for the platform, which has traditionally been a hub for visual content above all. Now, users can also express their creativity through written words, broadening the scope of content creation on TikTok.
This new format is set to give the written creativity we've seen in comments, captions, and videos a dedicated space to shine.
TikTok's text posts offer a simple publishing experience.
When you access the Camera page, you'll now find three options: photo, video, and text.
By selecting text, you'll be directed to the text creation page, where you can type out the content of your post.
Posts have a 1,000-character limit.
You can enhance your text by selecting stickers, tagging other accounts, adding hashtags, choosing from a variety of background colors, and even adding background songs.
The result is similar to text-heavy posts you’d see in an Instagram Story.
You can then publish the post to your Story or to the main Feed. You can also save drafts for later publishing.
If this text posts feature really takes off, it could eventually redefine how we perceive and use the platform. For that reason, it’s definitely worth experimenting with the options and keeping an eye on your network to see how others create and engage with the posts.
For those who hop on board, text posts could offer new opportunities for creativity. Brands in particular could now share stories, poems, recipes, and any other written content, providing a fresh and engaging way to connect with their audience.
