Threads engagement hit a slump after its now-famous meteoric rise. While some have been assuming it was a trend that would slowly die, there are some signs that Threads is not only surviving… but maybe even on its way to thriving!
With a user base quickly approaching the 100 million mark, as Mark Zuckerberg recently highlighted, Threads is definitely a platform worth keeping an eye on.
Here are some of the features we’ve seen rolling out recently:
Polls and GIFs: The addition of polls and GIFs increases interactivity and adds a crucial missing element from what Twitter users have come to epect. Users can create engaging content that encourages user participation and adds a fun element to our posts.
Post Editing: The ability to edit a Tweet was requested for years, and only recently became a paid feature. So the relatively quick addition of this Threads feature is noteworthy! After publishing a Thread, users can make changes within the first 5 minutes.
Voice Notes: Audio messages (aka “Voice Threads”) allow users to attach recordings to posts.
Cross-Promotion Across Meta Apps: Threads is leveraging the power of the Meta network, promoting its content on Facebook and Messenger. This is a smart move to increase visibility and reach for both individual posts and the app itself.
API Development: With the development of an API, we can expect more tools and integrations to become available, helping us to optimize our marketing efforts on Threads and streamline our workflows.
Additionally, these features are said to be coming soon:
Messaging Option: DMs would open up a new channel for direct communication, allowing for more personalized interactions and relationship building. This feature is currently in development.
Trending Topics Feature: Although still in development and with no set launch date, this Twitter-like feature could add a new dimension to Threads, making it a more comprehensive platform for both users and marketers.
With its unique features and the backing of Meta, Threads still has the potential to become a major player, offering us a fresh and potentially lucrative platform to connect with our audience.
For this reason, it’s important that social media marketers don’t write off the platform just because its initial honeymoon period is over. Keep Threads in mind as you consider your strategies in the coming months.
