Long-form blogging, which has been available for individual profiles on LinkedIn for several years, can now be utilized by Company Pages on LinkedIn.
Articles for Pages are a new option when deciding how to present and share company content.
Here are some of the key features and options available:
Links
Pull quotes
Embed rich media
Comments
Detailed analytics, including the “firmographics” of readers and engaged users
This is yet another media to consider when posting company blog posts and articles. It may be quite compelling for B2B brands especially: This option allows you to tap into LinkedIn networks and reach people you might not have been able to previously. Of course, the trade off is you’ll be directing traffic to LinkedIn instead of your own website. But you can also drive readers to a next step on an owned platform via the linking feature.
Another consideration is the trade-off between publishing a LinkedIn article as a company vs. as an employee. If you choose a Page-owned Article, you’ll ensure the content stays with your brand even if the employee moves on, but you’ll lose some of the authenticity that authorship provides. (That said, it’s unclear if authorship may be an option even with a Page-owned article. The feature will officially launch Oct. 4 so we will have to keep an eye on it!)
