Instagram is rolling out a fun new sticker option for Stories that will automatically turn speech into text. This auto-captioning feature includes several text style options and provides a compelling way to engage users who have their sound turned off.
Sound off 🗣…with sound off 🔇 Now you can add a captions sticker in Stories (coming soon to Reels) that automatically turns what you say into text. We’re starting in a handful of countries and hope to expand soon. pic.twitter.com/OAJjmFcx4R

Here are a few things to note about Caption Stickers:
Text will auto-generate based on the audio, so you shouldn’t expect 100% accuracy
If there are issues, you'll be able to edit the text
You can also edit the text color, position and font
This feature is available now for English-speaking users but should be available more broadly soon. In addition to their use in Stories, Caption Stickers will soon also be available for use in Reels as well.
It’s also worth mentioning that a similar auto-captioning feature was rolled out for IGTV last year, although those captions appear more as a standard closed captioning implementation as opposed to the stylistic Caption Stickers feature.
A big challenge when creating awesome social video content is the fact that many users will have their sound turned off when they see the post. This is why so many social video posts make use of text.
This feature now makes it possible to implement text with outstanding speed—you can even overlay text on videos that you recorded just a moment ago!
