Did you know you can now share Thread posts as Reels?
Meta’s “Twitter destroyer” app continues to offer new ways to share to and from Instagram. The newest feature—which commentators like @nickysweet857 and @oncescuradu began turning up in the last few weeks—is a quick way to share a Thread into an Instagram Reel.
To find the option for yourself, simply hit the “Share” icon on any Thread, then scroll to the right in the the tray of options that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Once you have the Thread in the Reel editor, you will be able to record a background and then share the content to Instagram. (Then, you could also share that content back to Threads if you so choose.)
In addition to sharing as a Reel, you also have the option to share a thread as:
Instagram feed post
Story
Link
Messenger message
WhatsApp message
Text message
Threads message
Meta continues to leverage its various apps in creative ways, finding new opportunities to share content between paltforms. In this case, the unique new feature could help further increase interest in Threads as it attempts to dethrone Twitter/X as the “Internet’s town square.”
This could also be a ploy to allow Creators to more easily respond to/remix Threads as compelling video content, similar to popular features on TikTok such as comment video replies.
Time will tell whether or not users take advantage of this new feature at scale. In the meantime, give it a try and see what you think!
