The Dooley team got together - over Slack - to brainstorm ways to stay positive and connected during this time of physical isolation.
Please add your own ideas to the list below!
“Zoomba” - engage friends or other families with a live Zumba workout, connecting over Zoom video conferencing and watching together on YouTube
Play board games, like FaceTime battleship
Chalk vibes - go around the neighborhood and write positive, uplifting messages on the sidewalks with chalk
Pick up the phone and call someone instead of texting them ;)
Send someone else a gift certificate to a local restaurant
Share new recipes with friends and family and virtually bake together
Write letters to people in nursing homes since they don't have visitors
Cocktails and quarantine - invite friends for a simple toast and go around the virtual room to share what you’re grateful for
Virtual book club - could be a book, podcast, show or topic that you share an interest in
A virtual scavenger hunt - take turns telling friends what to find and they report back by texting pics, FaceTiming, posting to stories, etc.
Check NextDoor to get groceries for those who are more at risk
Browse Meetup, which is allowing local meetups to host virtual events
Virtually swap teachable skills - e.g. if you can play the guitar, offer lessons to someone that wants to learn. Maybe they can offer you lessons on something like water color painting.
Think about ways to help (like virtual volunteering) through social media - for example, share where kids without school-provided meals can access food. Or your could make sock puppets with kids and then share a puppet show video with lonely retirement community residents
Take advantage of organizations like the Cincy Zoo doing more on social media content/outreach to connect with the community
