Rolling out now: Moderation Alerts are a new section in the admin tools of Facebook Groups. They allow you, as a group admin, to stay up to date with the content in your group that may need more immediate attention.
Moderation Alerts are meant to eventually provide a full suite of options. For now, the focus is on something called Engagement Alerts. This will be the first type of moderation alert. After turning it on, you’ll get a notification when content in your group is receiving a lot of reactions and comments.
These new alerts build on Keyword Alerts, rolled out last year, that notify admins when selected words or phrases appear in their group.
To set these up, head to the new Moderation Alert section of your group’s admin tools. (Note: You may not have this seciton quite yet. If so, check again soon!)
You’ll then have options for what you want to be alerted about, and when, based on a certain number of comments, replies or reactions. For example, you can receive an alert when a post has 50 comments, 100 reactions, etc. Facebook may recommend certain settings based on your group’s size and activity.
You can learn more in Facebook’s Help section.
Groups are so important to Facebook. Users have been moving toward private and semi-private spaces for some time, and Groups are a key to Facebook’s strategy for catering to that need.
These features are meant to help Facebook community managers do their work better—and keep them on Facebook instead of moving to other platforms.
If you are running a Facebook Group, hopefully features such as this will help you better serve your community members and catch wind of the most interesting, engaging, or even potentially damaging posts quickly and efficiently.
