LinkedIn is hoping to make it easier to create engaging, visual content with two new features rolling out now on the site.
A clickable link feature has launched to allow a link to be added to images or videos.
Here is an example post from the Creator Manager @ LinkedIn.
Link Stickers are now common on other social apps, such as in Instagram or Snapchat Stories. But this may be the first time we’ve seen this style of a link CTA (call-to-action) directly in a newsfeed.
Key features include:
Stickers can be placed on images and videos.
Stickers can be placed wherever you like on the image, and as large or small is you’d like.
The text is customizable.
There are currently no color options.
Links will work on both desktop and mobile.
Many marketers are keyed into traffic numbers from social media, so this addition could be a great way to potentially increase click-through-rate for LinkedIn campaigns.
The feature is rolling out gradually, so keep an eye out!
You can now quickly post in a visually appealing way with new post composition templates. This is being promoted as a way for LinkedIn users to further lean in to visual content on the platform.
Here’s one example of a post that uses the new template designer:
The templates include dozens of customizable backgrounds and fonts. Here’s how to give this a try yourself:
Use the share box on desktop, or tap “Post” on mobile, and then tap “Use a template.”
Customize your backgrounds.
Add your own text and customize the fonts.
Consider adding a link sticker. You can even add a clickable link onto templates to encourage your audience to take action.
Note: You’ll begin to see this feature roll out over the coming weeks.
Updates to carousels are also in the works. Building on the recent soft launch of carousels in the organic LinkedIn feed, the feature will be available to all users sometime in the fall. The posting option will allow the mix of video and images and the opportunity to help communities learn in a more digestible way.
For those of us regularly posting content natively on LinkedIn, these features could make all of our lives easier and open up new possibilities for expression and engagement.
TBD if people love these new utilities or hate the new visual clutter in their feeds. Hopefully, people will use these new powers responsibly.
