If you’ve ever been frustrated by the lack of a laughing emoji option in your business-oriented social media experiences, it’s time to turn that frown upside down!
Introducing LinkedIn’s new “Funny” reaction.
According to LinkedIn, this was a very popular (and “serious”) feature request.
And while it may sound silly, the impact could be a bit more profound when you consider how humor can play a part in the “authentic professional experiences” that LinkedIn wants to facilitate.
I hope it will bring you a bit of levity throughout your professional day.
— Tomer Cohen, Chief Product Office, LinkedIn
The laughing face joins a cast of familiar characters.
And because why not, here are the suggested use cases of each as laid out on the LinkedIn Help site:
Like – (LinkedIn actually does not define the first option—probably pretty self-explanatory at this point, right?)
Celebrate – “Expresses that you’re celebrating an announcement, congratulating a personal or professional milestone, or praising an accomplishment.”
Support – “Expresses that you empathize with someone’s experience or support them during a challenging time.”
Funny – “Expresses that the post made you laugh, felt humorous, or offered light-hearted fun in a professional context.”
Love – “Expresses that the post is heartwarming, resonates with you, or makes you feel an overall sense of appreciation or happiness.”
Insightful – “Expresses that you thought the post made a great point, offered a new idea, or shared helpful insights or advice.”
Curious – “Expresses that you’re intrigued by a thought-provoking perspective or question, and you want to learn more.”
Like Tomer said—maybe this will offer a bit of levity to your workday!
